However, when Obaseki, who had previously agreed to this formula in Abuja, arrived in Benin, he went back on his word and turned his back against the agreement made. As news spread like wildfire of the impending return of the long-lost treasures to their homeland, differing views emerged on where these symbols of a rich cultural heritage should find their resting place.

The Oba, with all the weight of tradition and history behind him, advocated for the artifacts to be housed within the sacred walls of the Benin Palace, where they could be revered and honored by generations to come. His vision painted a picture of a museum rising within the palace grounds, serving as a beacon of Benin’s glorious past.

These Enigie, custodians of tradition and loyal subjects of the Oba, stood united in their allegiance to the palace of the Oba of Benin and Omo N’Oba N’Edu Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II. They viewed themselves as an extension of the palace, a direct link to the rich heritage and legacy of the Benin monarchs.

Shaibu Attends Burial Ceremonies @ Uromi amidst Cheers from APC Supporters

On the noon of Good Friday, a significant event unfolded in the town of Uromi that captured the attention and admiration of many. The Deputy Governor of Edo State, the Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu, embarked on a noble journey to attend two solemn burial ceremonies, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to the people he served.

The first ceremony Shaibu attended was a heartfelt gathering with the family of Ozomonbor Ufuah and Bishop Emmanuel Ejikhian Ufuah, as well as Engineer Charles Imho-Odalo Ufuah, to commemorate the life of their beloved mother. Shaibu stood in solidarity with the grieving family, offering his condolences and support during their time of loss.

After paying his respects at the Ufuah family’s gathering, Shaibu continued his journey to join Chief Barrister Arthur Esene, a former Aspirant for Edo State PDP Governorship, at Obeidu primary school in Uromi. Re: Philip Shaibu’s Plot Against Obaseki

The Originality

The series of events and lies propagated by Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki and his media aides against Deputy Governor Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu paint a troubling picture of political manipulation and betrayal within the state government.

On June 13, 203, the governor and his aides falsely claimed that Shaibu had called a leader in APC to discuss speakership nominations, based on a video showing Shaibu celebrating with his friends and colleagues in Abuja during the National Assembly inauguration. This led to Obaseki becoming bitter and prevented Shaibu from attending a meeting at his residence to discuss the Edo State House of Assembly speakership nomination. Despite trying to contact the governor on that night after the thanksgiving service of the former speaker, Hon Marcus Onobun at the legislative quarters, Shaibu was denied access to the meeting and the governor’s plans to impeach him were revealed by those present.

Shaibu however, on hearing the news of his planned impeachment, took legal action to prevent his all parties involved and was then further marginalized by Obaseki, as evidenced by the assignment of a Director of State Security personnel to prevent him from exchanging pleasantries with the governor during a church service on August 27, 2023. The Chief Press Secretary also barred Shaibu’s media aides from attending the Edo @ 32 year celebration on August 28, where Shaibu left the venue with his aides amidst a lack of seating guests.

Despite Obaseki’s attempts to discredit him, Shaibu consulted with his people in Jattu on September 1 about potentially contesting the Edo State Governorship election. He also refuted claims of embezzling funds meant for people in Edo North, asserting his trustworthiness with public funds.

The governor further marginalized Shaibu by relocating his office outside the government house on September 15, 2023, and falsely claiming that Shaibu attempted to force his way into the governor’s office on September 18. The existence of CCTV cameras in the government house could provide evidence to counter these lies and showcase the unjust treatment of the deputy governor by the governor and his administration.

Overall, the detailed timeline of events highlights the deceitful actions taken by Governor Obaseki and his allies against Deputy Governor Shaibu, underscoring the need for transparency and accountability within the Edo State government.

For eighteen months, he fought the good fight, Losing all his entitlements, standing upright
Against godfatherism, he took a stand
A true warrior, with a helping hand

Years later, another battle arose
This time against the oppressed who turns oppressor, his friend turned foe
But Shaibu didn’t falter, didn’t back down, Standing with a friend who was being oppressed by a brother, in the fight for the crown

But even in victory, there lies betrayal
As the man who wears the crown turns the oppressor, Shaibu’s own allies, turn against him, to prevail
Yet he stands tall, with a few by his side, in whom he confides

he stands tall and strong,

But his determination and
resolve cannot be erased.

Relocated to an IDP camp,
a place of shame,
But his spirit remains unbroken,
his dream aflame.

Governor Obaseki’s actions,
attempts to hinder,
But Philip Shaibu’s resolve,
only grows sturdier.

Entitlements stripped,
aides disapproved,
Yet he continues to fight,
his courage unmoved.

Attacks on social media,
attempts at impeachment,
But Philip Shaibu remains resolute in his commitment.

A man of the people,
a leader in his own right,
He continues to strive,
his goal in sight.

September 2024,
his eyes set on the prize,

A REFLECTION OF THE POLITICAL TROUBLES IN EDO

In Edo’s land where troubles brew,
Governor Obaseki, in power, grew,
Yet many say he’s made it his own,
The state’s fate hanging on his throne.

A leader once, now deemed a lord,
His rule beset by chaos and discord,
No safety, schools, or roads to see,
In his shadow, the people plea.

His grip tight, his impact void,
Development and progress, left destroyed,
A legacy of neglect and dismay.

In Edo State where power corrupts,
Governor Obaseki’s rule disrupts,
Lawlessness grips the judiciary’s fate,
And the legislative arm bends to his dictate.

His chosen successor, full of pride,
Deceitful shrouded in education’s guise,
A candidate tainted by association,
Their bond a web of manipulation.

Pockets lined with ill-gotten gain,
The people’s trust he tries to feign,
But the truth of his reign is plain to see.

Injustice and corruption, a poisonous tree,
Yet in the shadows, the truth shall break free,
The people of Edo, resilient and strong,
Will rise united, against all that is wrong.

The pockets of deceit, weighed down by lies,
Shall crumble and fall as the truth flies,
Their trust will not be swayed or betrayed,
For in unity and justice, their strength is laid.

The reign of darkness, soon to fade,
As the light of justice cuts through the line.

In Edo’s heart, a leader stands tall,
Honored by many, loved by all,
Comrade Philip, a man of the people,
In his care, hopes and dreams ripple.

With closeness to the common man’s plight,
Youth and sports, shining bright,
A beacon of hope in Edo’s land,
Guided by a compassionate hand.

Chosen by the people’s voice,
Their hearts and hopes, his choice,
Yet hurdles placed in his way,
By those who seek to sway,
But the spirit of Comrade Shaibu prevails,
In the face of challenges, he unfurls his sails.

With the people’s strength at his back,
He bravely follows the right track,
Through storms of deceit and greed,
Comrade Shaibu’s leadership takes the lead.

In the heart of Edo, a flame burns bright,
Guided by honor, truth, and right,
The people’s choice, a shining star,
Comrade Shaibu, they know….
